Art Marketing: The Decline of “Old School” Websites

by Nicolette Tallmadge

Take a look at your website and ask yourself these questions:

  • Have I updated or upgraded my website in the past year?
  • Is it easy for me to update my own website?
  • Can customers easily contact me in ways other than email or a contact form?
  • Can customers easily leave feedback, reviews, testimonials, etc about my artwork?
  • Can customers easily share my website with their friends on Twitter, Facebook, etc?

If you’ve answered “no” to any of these questions (or worst yet, you don’t even have a website), then you may be the owner of an “old school” website.

To be an effective marketing tool for today’s internet user, your website needs to be more than just an electronic version of a phone book listing. The way people are using the internet is changing…so your website also needs to change too.
