Right now, I’m leading a discussion about blogging at the American Craft Council wholesale show in Baltimore. But I still got this blog post up while I’m doing my lecture. How did I do this? By writing and scheduling my post ahead of time! Part of what can make blogging a difficult thing to keep up with is the habit of writing and posting on a regular basis. Even if you’ve made it a habit to blog once or twice a week, events intrude in your blogging time, your blogging muse fly away, or you simply get to busy to blog, and the next thing you know it’s been months since you’re last post.
One of the strategies you can use in order to keep up with blogging is by writing and scheduling posts ahead of time. So if you know that you won’t be able to publish a post at your usual time because you’re busy, traveling, or that you’re going to be away from your computer, you can simply write your post and scheduled it to publish in the future.
Most blogging software allows you to do this, it’s simply a matter of setting the publish date ahead of time.
If you’re using Blogger, you can schedule your post by changing the post date, which is located under “Post Options” when you’re writing or editing a post.

Simply click on the “Post Options” link and then fill out the date and time you want your post to be published.

On older versions of WordPress, you schedule your post by changing the “Post Timestamp“, located on the right hand side of the “Write” or “Edit” post screen.

On the latest version of WordPress, you can schedule your post by clicking on the “Edit” link beside the “Publish Immediately” setting on the right hand side of the “Add New Post” or “Edit” screen.

Then simply change publish date to the date and time that you want your post to be published.

Great idea! Thanks.
That’s a great step-by-step instructional guide. I’ve shared it with a couple of friends who are new to blogging.
Keep up the good work!
Wow! I didn’t know I could do that on Wordpress. Thanks for the tip, now I won’t have to sit on my hands for a day waiting to post my article! :^)
