Yesterday I was poking around on one of my Facebook Fan pages and started using a very useful Facebook application called “Static FBML”. Basically, Static FBML allows you to put bits of HTML code on your Facebook Fan page. Since I’m always trying to get people to sign up for my mailing list, I used the FBML app to put a couple of sign up boxes on my Facebook Fan page so that people can join my newsletter directly from my fan page.
Static FBML is great for putting in sign up boxes and for adding graphic banners and other bits of HTML code that you might want to add to your Fan page. Here’s an example of what you can do with it.

If you want to learn how to put your own newsletter sign up box on your Facebook page, I’ve recorded a how-to video on just how to do it. You can watch it below:

How did you know I wanted this? Thanks for posting this! Can it be used on your regular page or just your Fan page?
Poo. Disappointed that I can’t do this myself. I have no idea how to write HTML code.
Hi! Do you currently use a mailing list management service to manage your email list? If you are, they provide the HTML code for you and it’s just a matter of cutting and pasting the code into the FBML box. If you don’t currently use a service, you can find out more about them by looking at my article series on How to Plan and Start a Great Email Newsletter. You can find it here: http://www.craftedweb.com/maillistpdf/

Nicolette,
Do you have any idea how helpful this is?! What a wonderful presentation! Thank you!
Hi Nicolette,
This is VERY helpful — thanks so much for making this video. Easy to follow, clear, articulate… an A++ in my book!
Nicolette, What is the HTML editor you’re using in this video? Thanks! F.
