Online Video: How do you put a slide show up on YouTube?

It’s been a while since I’ve put an Ask the Crafted Webmaster question up on the blog, so here’s one by K Henderson about videos.

Do you have a good tutorial about how to put images/slide show on YouTube?

With the news that Google Video and YouTube are serving 10 billion (that’s billion with a B) videos to people a month, creating video slideshows of your work is a good way to start putting your videos out to this audience. There’s a number of different ways to create a video slideshow…but there are services out there that can make the process fast and easy:

Hi there!

I actually don’t have a tutorial prepared that shows how to do this (sounds like a great one to start planning in the future). However, there is a service that can do this that might interest you. Take a look at a website called Animoto . This is an online service that allows you upload photos and even brief video clips and arrange them into video slideshows. Once you have your photos or your videos uploaded to the service, you can arrange the videos however you want, add text and even add music. You can either upload your own music or you can choose from their music library. They have all genres of music…so the selection is not bad at all.

I literally created a brief slideshow of my jewelry in less than 15 minutes using Animoto. Plus you don’t need any special equipment or software to use the service. Once you’ve created your video, you can upload it to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, or put it on your own website.

For videos up to 30 seconds long, the service is free. If you want something longer than 30 seconds you can get what’s called an “All-Access Pass”, which is a 1 year subscription that allows you to make as many full length videos (videos over 30 seconds) as you want. A 1-year subscription costs about $30.

Let me know if this helps!

Here’s the quick video I made using Animoto. And keep your eyes peeled for an instructional video on how to use this service ;)
